Bulwell Arts Festival has got off to a flying start with 900 people visiting Bulwell Academy for the launch event on Saturday 8th July. The fun continued for a full two days on the market square, with the City Arts dome containing an interactive sound box ‘The Circle Squared’ by Graham Elstone and Sarah Manton; and drop in workshops for children and families under marquees on the square.
The wonderful Jude Winford from Beatfeet has been working with 6 local primary schools in recent weeks in preparation for ‘The Bulwell Groove’ – a fabulous coming together of school children performing with drums, voices, tambourines and shakers to create a proud rhythmic performance, beginning with ‘Bulwell is our home’ and ending with ‘You and I, are one’ on Monday morning. Activities for under 5s filled the space until 2.30pm with drop in family workshops from 3pm – 6pm.
People loved the relaxed atmosphere and the live music, provided by Josh Simms and his team! Thank you to all the volunteers, artists, musicians and people who have made Bulwell Arts Festival possible this year. We have a great creative community!
