Thanks to Broadway and some wonderful volunteers in Bulwell, Creative Nottingham North is pleased to be part of a new community cinema project providing support to launch a series of film screenings for local audiences!
From February – April 2017 Connecting Communities is providing a varied programme of films in Bulwell and Mansfield including contemporary titles such as Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and The Jungle Book; documentary film I Am Bolt; along with family matinees and dementia-friendly screenings of classics like Casablanca, Calamity Jane and Singin’ in the Rain.
Jo Alls, a volunteer from Bulwell said “The project can bring families together, allowing them to spend quality time in a unique setting, whilst watching and enjoying a movie at an affordable price.”
Connecting Communities aims to deliver 20 film screenings across 5 venues; and all will be programmed by the project volunteers, with support from Broadway.
John Offord, Project Lead said “This pilot project will create a network of self-sustaining community cinemas in Bulwell and Mansfield.”
The venues taking part in this pilot are Bulwell Academy, St John’s Church in Bulwell, Mellish Sports Centre, Old Library in Mansfield and Mansfield Central Library. The screenings at Mansfield Central Library will be dementia friendly.
The project is supported by Film Hub Central East as part of the BFI Film Audience Network, Broadway Cinema, and Creative Nottingham North.
